This Privacy Notice explains how Rel Dev Solutions, Inc. ("LessonSync", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares personal data when you use the LessonSync service. We act as the data controller for personal data we collect about you directly. When you upload information about your students or their parents, you act as the controller of that data and we process it on your behalf.
1. Data we collect
- Account data: name, email, password (hashed), studio name.
- Profile data: display name, optional logo or avatar.
- Studio data you upload: students, parents, teachers, lessons, schedules, notes, invoices, instruments, rooms.
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, device and browser type, IP address, approximate location, timestamps.
- Support data: messages you send to us and metadata about that communication.
2. How we use your data
- To create and operate your account and studio (contract performance).
- To provide the Service: scheduling, billing, notifications, parent and student portal (contract performance).
- To send service emails such as lesson confirmations, password reset, and account notices (contract performance).
- To improve the Service, monitor performance, prevent fraud and abuse, and secure our systems (legitimate interests).
- To respond to support requests (legitimate interests / contract performance).
- To send occasional product updates, where permitted (legitimate interests or consent, with the ability to opt out).
- To comply with legal obligations (legal obligation).
3. How we share data
We share personal data only with the following categories of recipients:
- Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database, email delivery, error monitoring, analytics.
- Merchant of Record (Paddle) — Paddle.com acts as the reseller and merchant of record for our paid plans and processes payments, manages subscriptions, calculates and remits sales tax, and issues invoices on our behalf.
- Professional advisers — accountants, auditors, and lawyers, where reasonably required.
- Authorities — where required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
4. International transfers
Personal data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required by applicable law (including UK/EEA), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and adequacy decisions.
5. Retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, export, or object to certain processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. UK/EEA users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority. We respond to verified requests within one month. Contact privacy@lessonsync.studio.
7. Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, encryption at rest for our database, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.
8. Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies and local storage entries required for authentication and to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies. Optional analytics may be enabled in the future and, where required by law, only with your consent.
9. Children
LessonSync is intended for use by teachers and studio administrators, not directly by children. Where a teacher uses the Service to manage records about minors, the teacher or studio is responsible for obtaining any required parental consent.
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice.
